Golfing... Brandywine Getaways

The Brandywine valley is a surprisingly good area for golf three seasons of the year. That makes it a great destination for golfers whose wives are interested in seeing the area's gardens, museums or antique shows. We say, "Divide and enjoy!" The valley can keep you both occupied and entertained for a week or a weekend. Ask your innkeeper to help you plan your intinerary and to suggest restaurants for you to enjoy together after the days activities.

Brandywine Valley Public Golf Courses

Deerfield Golf & Tennis Club
Once a Dupont Country Club course, then owned by MBNA, Deerfield is now a public course, owned by the Delaware Division of Parks. It is a challenging course, heavily wooded, with lots of elevation changes and beautiful greens.

Rock Manor Golf Course
New 18 hole layout re-opened May 28, 2008. The Rock has been lengthened from 5,779 yards to an 18-hole, 6,405-yard championship design by golf-course architect Lester George.  The course has new tee boxes, greens, bunkers and fairways, as well as a state-of-the-art irrigation system that is supposed to keep it in top playing condition all season long. A great new course and priced for play!

White Clay Creek CC at Delaware Park
First class, upscale 18-hole championship golf course designed with environmental sensitivity in mind. The course wends its way around the racetrack and stable areas maintaining the native horticulture, with three streams, and wildlife habitat preservation. A very, very challenging course with long carries off the tees. Beautiful clubhouse and pro shop and a fantastic practice area with chipping greens, driving range and putting area.

Inniscrone Golf Club
A nationally-ranked championship golf course designed by Gil Hanse that hosted US Open Champion Jim Furyk's Exelon Invitational (2001 & 2002.) The Golf Course at Glen Mills
Designed by Bobby Weed, Glenn Mills' vistas are breathtaking. The changes in elevation reminded you a bit of Fieldstone in Delaware, except this course is open to the public. The fairways are undulating and water comes into play on the back nine.

Broad Run Golfer's Club
Built in 2000, a Rees Jones design, Broad Run is nestled in the rolling hills of Broad Run Valley, a scenic corner of Chester County. The course winds around meadows and woodlands and blends classic architecture and natural beauty.

Wyncote Golf Club

Loch Nairn Golf Course
Fun layout. Water on 14 holes. Target golf. The course is in the best condition ever.

Chisel Creek Golf Club
Chisel Creek opened in 2000. It was built by Niebur Golf, the same people who built Fieldstone Golf Club, an awesome private course in Delaware. Chisel Creek is a par 70 design, three par 5s, five par 3s including No. 3 with an island green. The layout puts a premium on placement rather than length.
